A man of Palestinian origin, Sirhan, was sentenced to death in a gas chamber after he was put on trial for the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. The sentence later changed to life in prison. Sirhan stated that he bore no ill will towards Kennedy and his reasons were connected to the conflict in the Middle East.
