The vessel was called SR.N1. it was invented by British engineer Christopher Cockerell. He first tested the hovercraft using a can of cat food inside a coffee tin and reversed air-flow from a vacuum cleaner in his boatyard. Today, hovercrafts are used in disaster relief, coastguard, military sport or passenger service.
